A psychologist with a doctorate from the University of San Francisco, Dr. Suttie transitioned from being Greater Good’s former book review editor to becoming a staff writer and contributing editor for the magazine. Her devotion to social and positive psychology, as well as science, led her to write extensively for Greater Good. Since her very first article in 2006, Dr. Suttie has authored numerous pieces covering topics such as purpose, happiness, awe, mindfulness, resilience, compassion, altruism, and cooperation.

Dr. Suttie also explores the impact of social policy, racial bias, nature, technology, and music on individual mental health and relationships. Beyond her work at Greater Good, she engages in freelance writing and appears on podcasts. Dr. Suttie resides in Berkeley, California, where she enjoys hiking to connect with nature.
